Abstract

Taking Wittgenstein's and Pessoa's Archives as a point of departure, the project for a post doctoral period which I submit to evaluation proposes the study of the connections between aesthetics and philosophy in the works of these two authors. In fact, among the several aspects which enable the approach between these two thinkers, the continuous concern with the structures of language is that which makes possible to compare them. Nevertheless, their interest in the structures of language is not strange to the way they organize the literary space of their works. On the one hand, one finds in Wittgenstein's considerations about the grammar and the language games mechanisms for the comprehension of Fernando Pessoa's literary devices. On the other hand, the analysis of certain concepts and devices employed by Pessoa enables us to confirm some of Wittgenstein's hypothesis about the structures of language. Yet, besides the similarities which approximate the productions of these two authors, there are only few studies consecrated to the analysis and confrontation of their works. Thus, taking into consideration the thematic of Aesthetics and Philosophy in Wittgenstein's and Pessoa's Archives, this project for a postdoctoral period proposes the systematic study of the relations between Wittgenstein's and Pessoa's Archives, in order to supply a gap in the interpretation of these two author's works.
