Abstract

Productivity of Eucalyptus plantation depends on an appropriate phosphate fertilizer management. Sources of phosphorus differ by concentration, availability and cost. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of different phosphate fertilizers sources on the nutrition and productivity of a Eucalyptus plantation, and to understand the phosphorus metabolism in the plant to define the best strategy for phosphorus supply. The study will be carried out at the Itatinga Experimental Station of the São Paulo University, and will assess 5 phosphate fertilizers management strategies (treatments). Soluble phosphate, rock phosphate, and a new technique with humic complexed phosphate will be evaluated. A complete randomized block design will be set up with six treatments and four replicates. The plots will consist by 81 plants (9 rows with 9 plants) with 6 m² per plant. Volume, total biomass, leaf area index (LAI) and nutrient use efficiency of treatments wiil be the studied to assess the effect of each treatment. Extra, plots will be installed to quantify the forms of P (organic P and inorganic P) in soil and plant, using sequential extractions. All data will be analyzed using descriptive statistics and analysis of variance. Means will be compared using Tukey´s test (pd0,05) and the relationship between independent variables and dependent variables will be tested by correlation analysis and regression.
