Abstract

The weight and size of banana fruit quality are important factors that vary depending on the position of the hand in the bunch. Hands located on top of the bunch, which differentiate the first, contains fruit generally 30-40% heavier and larger than fruits produced at the bottom of the bunch. This negative gradient is detrimental to banana producers because the whole bunch is harvested at the same time. One of the ways of minimizing this problem is to promote an increase in capacity allocation of assimilates by the fruit, by modifying the hormonal balance in a favorable direction by the use of growth regulators. This project aims to determine the effect of cytokinin and gibberellin, isolated or associated with the growth and fruit quality of bananas. For this, a bunch will be treated by spraying manual, directed to different fruits from the fourth hand. In addition to the agronomic variables related to production (bunch weight, number of hands, the average number of fruits per bunch, diameter and average fruit size, etc.), the fruits will be evaluated in postharvest aiming its physicochemical characterization (color, pH, texture, soluble solids and titratable acidity content, titratable acidity and the soluble solids/titratable acidity ratio).(AU)
