Abstract

Electromyography signal decomposition, conduction velocity estimation, innervation region identification, electromyography signal compression, neuromuscular disease diagnosis and several other problems demand the validation of the methods applied in their solution. In order to test these methods, the development of a simulator would be useful. The computer-generated signals should have a behavior similar to the biological signals recorded in experiments. Besides it, this simulator would allow the design of computer experiments to test hypotheses that otherwise could not be proved, due to the difficult of performing experiments in human beings. This undergraduate research aims to implement and test computer simulation models that generate action potentials in muscle fibers, motor unit potentials and multi-channel electromyography signals.(AU)
