Abstract

This project aims to broaden the debate over the role that psychoanalysis plays in the actualization of Critical theory. In several current versions of Critical Theory, only Honneth takes psychoanalysis as a partner to handle that task. For this reason, we take the problematization of Honneth as a starting point to propose a possible actualization path to the relationship between psychoanalysis and Critical theory, with emphasis on the current developments concerning the notion of autonomy and current developments in french psychoanalysis concerning the affect of anxiety. In order to do this, we will take some results of our doctoral work as a starting point, especially those that point to an insufficiency of the relational model of psychoanalysis, used by Honneth to support his version of the actualization of Critical theory. Thus, another set of results of our doctoral work will be aggregated to this starting point: those referring to a theory of recognition and the emergence of the issue of anxiety as a hinge to think about the question of individual freedom and autonomy.
