Abstract

This project aims to study Charles Baudelaire musical critics (Richard Wagner and the Tannhauser in Paris, 1861), with the objective to project it in the musical debates that are historically constituted and determines the musical life in the XIX half century Paris, looking forward to search a net of influences that goes through the whole century. This project seeks to dialogue the baudelairian musical critics with other contemporary musical critics (or theorys), like the musical critics of Eduard Hanslick. So on, the study demands a determining position for musical critics, because it is a privileged object to comprehend the organization of musical (and cultural) life in a certain history moment. In the same way, critical and musical work demands an individual analisys, looking to comprehend the historicity that is inherent in both. In addition, it is perceptible that exist a tendency in historical studies to center only on Baudelaire literary and artistic critics, discarding his musical critic to Richard Wagner, so therefore, by this perception this study aims to contribute with the filling of this blank.
