Abstract

The neonatal asphyxia can be defined as a reduction in serum levels of oxygen and nutrient supply to the vital organs of the newborn. A rapid restoration of blood flow and oxygen to the lungs after a long period of asphyxia, as in high-volume mechanical ventilation may cause lung damage and decline in lung function, characterizing the context of ischemia-reperfusion. These lesions result from the production of molecules, such as nitric oxide synthases (NOS) which promote the regulation of vascular routes which lead into the lung. NOS enzymes are percussoras the formation of nitric oxide (NO), which is a potent anti-inflammatory, vasodilator and bronchodilator. Given the importance of NO in the regulation of physiological lung, as well as the influence of asphyxia in the expression and activation of NOS, this study was to investigate if there are changes in the way of expression of nitric oxide with mechanical ventilation after asphyxia. For development of the survey will be used newborns of Sprague-Dawley rats, divided into four groups: external control (EC), external control + ventilation (CEV), asphyxia (A) and asphyxia + ventilation (AV ) (n = 48). The samples will be collected for morphological and western blotting. The values obtained are evaluated and the statistical differences are considered when p <0.05. (AU)
