Abstract

This project aims to examine the resources and capabilities generated in the process of new products development between suppliers and buyers. It also will analyze the influence of resources and capabilities of the operational performance of the buyers. The literature review is based on the concepts of extended resource-based view, relational view, integration and collaboration in the supply chain and operational performance. This project is continuing research that is under development, funded by FAPESP (process 2011/20341-1, valid from 01/03/2012 to 28/02/2014). The first phase of the research (process 2011/20341-1) began in March 2012. The empirical research involved a total of nine case studies in the automotive, chemical and electronics. The second phase (process 2011/20341-1), planned to be developed during the year 2013, refer to a survey, which will be held in conjunction with the empirical research of the project FAPESP/Process 2011/20341-1). Thus, the results of the first stage will be improved for development of the survey questionnaire. It is intended to conduct a survey in Brazil and England. The validation of the concepts upon the data collected, will occur by the use of confirmatory factor analysis and hypotheses are tested using the technique of structural equation modeling and / or regression analysis. These concepts (extended resource-based view, relational view, integration and collaboration in the supply chain and operational performance) are quite complementary and are very contemporary. The literature treats the concepts partially. Therefore, this study may contribute to a greater understanding of the concepts of resources and capabilities originated / shared through the integration and collaboration of supply chain in the process of product development.
