Abstract

The production of intellectual historian Quentin Skinner is a source of inspiration for those seeking new opportunities for historical research. The originality of his method imposes new priorities, especially when it comes to the history of modern political thought. The way the author presented his methodological foundation in the field of history of ideas begins a series of debates that put into focus issues such as: What purpose historian? What are the real possibilities and limits of interpretivism ideas from a historical perspective? What impact the linguistic turn in the humanities? What impact of linguistic and contextual analysis have in the field of political theory? The enormous complexity of these questions impels us to study the design method Skinner, from their formulations compiled in the book Visions of Politics. Although such a task does not exhaust the complexity of these and several other issues, we intend to elucidate the fundamentals and specifically theoretical influences that embody the concept of central methodological Skinner, the language of action, under the pretense of an introductory contribute in deepening research on the author Featured.(AU)
