Abstract

The proposition of this project is to investigate the ordering of operators and modifiers of the verb phrase in Portuguese, taking as a theoretical apparatus to Functional Discourse Grammar, developed by Hengeveld and Mackenzie (2008). The aim is to investigate the principles that guide the linearization of these constituents in Portuguese, determining the factors that influence the patterns of ordering the verb phrase. For this, take up, as research universe, extracted from actual occurrences of use of oral corpus organized by the Centre of Linguistics of the Universidade de Lisboa, in partnership with the Universidade de Toulouse-le-Mirail and the Universidade de Provença-Aix-Marselha, which the samples were selected varieties that are related to the country's official language: Brazilian, Portuguese, African (from Sao Tome and Principe, Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau and Mozambique) and the Timorese.
