Abstract

Bulk fill composites are suitable for restorations in posterior teeth using layers up to 6 mm of material, making the clinical procedure significantly faster. The objective of this study is to assess the influence of the use of this material associated with different techniques of photoactivation on the cuspal movement in class II cavities. This study will be used teeth extracted from human premolars. The teeth will be stored in 0.1% thymol solution until ready to use. The teeth will be included on their root portion in PVC cylinders using epoxy resin, followed by the simulation of the physiological pressure pulp. Class II MOD cavities will be prepared and restored under different restorative protocols (composite Tetric EvoCeram / incremental technique and composite Tetric EvoCeram Bulkfill (4 mm) + Tetric EvoCeram (2 mm) / bulk-fill technique) and 3 different curing protocols (high intensity, soft-start, and low intensity). Intercuspal distance will be recorded after cavity preparation and at different post-restoration periods: immediately after and 1, 7, 14, 21, and 28 days after the restoration. During this period, the teeth will be stored in artificial saliva at 37oC. The measures will be obtained using a digital micrometer and the cuspal movement will be calculated by the difference between the pre-restoration and the values in each post-restoration period. The results will be analyzed using statistical tests appropriate to the type of data distribution.(AU)
