Abstract

The current project is a sequel to the master's degree thesis funded by CNPq grant 131531/2010-7, at Museu Nacional - Rio de Janeiro, dealing with the anatomical comparison of the family Fasciolariidae from Brazil. On this stage of research, it is intended to expand the study to encompass the majority of Brazilian species and some foreign. Fasciolariids lack morphological characterizations of soft-parts; neither a cladistics hypothesis focused on this taxon occurs. In the present research, a morphological description of shell and soft-parts of 16 representatives will be undertaken, and, posteriorly, to verify the validity of the taxons present in the analysis, a matrix will be formulated with these characters, followed by a discussion about their anatomy and phylogeny.
