Abstract

This study will discuss the relation between the interests of students and the Rectory in public spaces of USP. For this, the concepts used will be "nomoespaço" and "genoespaço", and public space. The Rectory will be identified as a "Nomoespaço" because their actions are governed by stable and logically justified laws and they have a referenced territory. Such would be planned in a methodical and rational way, which gives value to formal legal processes and a view of politics that limits the individual's participation. The students will be identified following the model of "Genoespaço" because they are composed of many groups who do not have a fixed territory. Thus, its policies and its territories reflect the history, identities and social dynamics, giving greater relevance and meaning to the territories. This vision prey that a physical structure may be appropriate for different social groups, which confers instability to its limits. The public space is understood as a space defined by the state (both in its design and functions, and in its contribution to the policy), together or not with the society, with some function aimed to the society. The information contained in this space shows how is the forces correlation between the various groups, as well as its balance of power with the state. The discussion is relevant to geography, because it discuss the space and its appropriations through a critical analysis of society and what that builds, while seeking to answer the following question: "How the interests of students and the rectory converge or diverge and how it reflects in disputes and changes in the use of public spaces of USP?"(AU)
