Abstract

The Spectral Action Principle states that physical actions are determined by the spectrum of a Dirac operator. The computation of the spectral action relies on methods of Quantum Field Theories as the heat kernel expansion ona weak-field approximation. The purpose of this project is to calculate the spectral action for almost-commutative geometries beyond few leading order in the heat kernel expansion and test the Spectral Action Principle in two dimensional systems for both, its physical predictions and its theoretical consistency.
