Abstract

This research internship proposal aims at the fabrication and characterization of nanoantennas designed to operate at optical communication frequencies. The nanoantenna designs so far theoretically developed by the student have focused on producing possible efficient solutions for challenging problems of coupling, and also communication, related to indoor optical wireless systems and intra/inter chip environments. To complete the study of such novel nanoantennas physical prototypes have to be fabricated and their main features must be verified by proper measurements. To this end, the proposed research internship will be carried out at Prof. Dr. Constance J. Chang-Hasnain's laboratory, at the University of California, Berkeley, CA, USA, where the student will have the unique opportunity to count with her supervision, interact with her group and have access to the superb laboratory facilities of that University.
