Abstract

The prevailing climatic oscillations during the Quaternary reshaped the entire landscape complex of São Paulo State, changing the distribution of vegetation and the processes of morphogenesis and pedogenesis until then active. The current spatial organization of the vegetation is a result of the reorganization of physical natural systems and the understanding of the determinants of this organization allows us to analyze the processes responsible for the evolution of cerrado in the Depressão Periférica Paulista area. The proposed research aims to analyze the evolution of the landscape during the Quaternary, by dating the soil parent material by Optically Stimulated Luminescence method (OSL), establishing relationships with the distribution of vegetation cover and Cenozoic deposits correlative to the morphogenetic processes active during the Pleistocene.
