Abstract

This research project aims to evaluate the occurrence of the Cryptosporidium in buffalo steers up to six months old in the city of Alambari, São Paulo. Fecal samples of an amount of 220 animals will be examined through the Kinyoun technique, to verify the elimination of oocysts and through the immunosorbent assay (ELISA), using the "Cryptosporidium Test" kit by TechLab to the antigens detection. The samples that present to be positive to the microscopy or to the ELISA test will be molecularly characterized by a polymerase chain reaction to 18S from rRNA subunit fragment amplification and amplified fragments sequencing. The statistical analysis will consist of a Chi-Square test to verify the association of the referred enteroparasite relative to the gender, race, and age of the analyzed animals.(AU)
