Abstract

The sheep have been widely used in various experimental veterinary and medical protocols that include cardiac evaluation. The electrocardiogram, echocardiogram, chest radiographic examination and systemic arterial pressure are important diagnostic methods, mainly used to detect not only the heart but also changes to analysis of normal heart function. Sheep heart Physiology at birth differs from that of adults, and few studies describe the electrocardiographic, echocardiographic, radiographic evolution and systemic arterial pressure in neonatal lambs. Within the different age groups there are variations in the values obtained in several species, making it necessary to standardize them in neonatal lambs. This work aims to describe the car diac evaluation in lambs of different races during the first 35 days of age, providing data that may be useful in the various protocols that utilize this species, as an experimental model. Cardiac evaluation will be held that will consist of: electrocardiogram (holter and ambulatory), ecodopplercardiographics parameters, heart radiographic examination and determination of the VHS (vertebral heart size), systemic arterial pressure (by Doppler method and oscillometric) in clinically healthy lambs, 20, from birth (M0), on the seventh, 14°, 21°, 28°, until day 35 of age, widely the neonatal period.
