Abstract

Among the microorganism that decompose lignocelullosic material it is possible to find the brown root fungi, which degrade polysaccharides, mainly the cellulose and hemicellulose, leaving a rich residue in lignin content. This fungal action seems to occur by a non-enzymatic pathway known as Fenton reaction. This reaction involves the formation of hydroxyl radicals based on decomposition of H2O2 by Fe2+ ions. Considering the application of different biomimetic systems in the main project, the objective of this proposal is to evaluate the action of the biomimetic system based on the Fenton reaction and its effect on subsequent enzymatic hydrolysis.
