Abstract

Patients' denture wearers need to control biofilm through proper cleaning and using methods and products that do not cause damage and are effective. Knowing the difficulties found by edentulous patients to have access to specific products for denture hygiene in the Brazilian market, the aim of this study will be to evaluate (in vitro) one experimental dentifrice based Ricinus communis for dentures, focusing on physical and chemical-specific tests, in order to meet the main properties of the developed product, and combining a quality certification. 24 acrylic plates (90mmx 30mm x4mm) were distributed into 4 groups: distilled water; suspension of a commercial dentifrice Dentu-cream; suspension of a dentifrice based at chloramine T; suspension of a dentifrice based on experimental Ricinus communis. The specimens will be brushed with a soft brush and suspensions in a brushing machine. The surface roughness will be measured before and after brushing. Once obtained satisfactory results, in vivo analyzes will be performed. The overall aim of the proposal is to obtain a product combining the mechanical and chemical methods to promote proper hygiene, with mechanical removal of biofilm and antimicrobial action of Ricinus communis.(AU)
