Abstract

This project is intended to synthesize alpha-alumina (alpha-Al2O3) doped with Sr2 + additive, using the mixed oxides route, with high chemical homogeneity. The literature suggests the formation of intermediate compounds in the synthesis by chemical route, and this study will evaluate if and how such situations occur where the synthesis takes place by mixing the oxides of aluminum and strontium using their most stable phase (corundum and rock salt, respectively) when subjected to temperatures below 1700 ° C. So, the alumina containing different concentrations of Sr2 + will be synthesized by grinding in an alcoholic medium, and after drying and calcining at different temperatures, the characterization will be carried out using techniques like specific surface area, XRD, electrokinetic mobility, pycnometer, and differential scanning calorimetry. It is intended to produce a stable suspension from the composition with a larger amount of additive introduced. (AU)
