Abstract

Continuing the ongoing Ph.D. project, this internship was planned to be developed in School of Engineering and Applied Science at Princeton University under supervision of Prof. Craig B. Arnold, and aims waveguide fabrication for mid-IR photonic applications. Femtosecond Laser Micromachining and Optical Trap Assisted Nanopatterning (OTAN) techniques will be used to produce the waveguides. The OTAN method, developed in Prof. Arnold Group, enables the fabrication of structures smaller than the wavelength, overcoming the limitation imposed by the material roughness. After choosing the properly composition, the waveguides will be produced and optimized through the study of the irradiation condition, loss and profile of the guided light. (AU)
