Abstract

The difficulty of removal of denture adhesives is one of the problems reported by users of these products. The aim of this study is to assess, in vivo and by means of a cross-over trial, different methods of removal a denture adhesive, associated with brushing. Twenty participants will be selected, stratified by gender and age. The study is divided into five distinct stages, with one week interval between them ("wash-out"), to carry out the protocols for cleaning dentures. On these occasions, to attend Clinical Research, participants will be using the Ultra Corega cream denture adhesive for a minimum of 6 and maximum of 8 hours. Hygiene protocols will be performed by the participant, assisted by the researcher, as described: brushing of the maxillary dentures using soft bristles toothbrush and: A (water at ambient temperature), B (water at 70ºC), C (coconut soap), D (dentifrice) e E (water at ambient temperature, followed by immersion in perborate sodium solution for 5 minutes at ambient temperature). The control will correspond to the total area of the internal surface of the maxillary dentures evaluated in the study, without the adhesive. By means of a photographic method, the remaining adhesive in maxillary denture will be quantified in relation to the total area of the internal surface of denture (control) by means of percentage. Data will be tabulated and submitted to statistical tests, considering significance level of 5%. (AU)
