Abstract

The objective of this research is to evaluate the ruminal methane emissions, soil emissions of CO2, N2O and methane, carbon storage and soil total nitrogen in silvopastoral system with rotational stocking of sheep massaigrass. The experiment is carried out at the Forage, FCAV, Jaboticabal UNESP, SP, from October 2012 to October 2014. Treatments will consist of three levels of trees (eucalyptus spaced 6.0X2.0m, and 12.0X2,0m, and without shadow), in silvopastoral system. Adult sheep will be used, managed on intermittent stocking. Entry criteria for the animals will be used to light interception of 95% in paddocks without shade, and paddocks with trees, will be used for canopy height found in paddocks without shade matching. The exit criterion is 15 cm in height of grasses in all treatments, calling occupying three days. Will be evaluated at time (EVA), tiller density (TD), herbage dry matter (HDM), the morphological components of the forage (MCF) and nutritional value (NV) of massaigrass. These evaluations will be conducted in a randomized block design with five blocks in scheme repeated measures. Will also be evaluated as the forage intake (FI), ruminal methane production (RMP), methane production (MP), N2O (NP) and CO2 (CP) in the soil carbon stock (SCS) and total nitrogen (TN) in soil used in these assessments a completely randomized design, layout also repeated measure. The ECF, PMR, PMS, PNS, SEM and NTS will have five repetitions, and possess the PCS 10 repetitions.
