Abstract

Providing food for fish in sea cages is complex and may be impractical when ocean storms occur. The automatic feeding can control and to make easy the providing of feed to fish, being an indispensable tool for technically and economically viable marine fish farming. With the use of automatic feeders is possible to feed the fish more times, provide feed over night and correct the amount of feed supplied according to weather variations that occur in the aquatic environment, and other feeding managements that would be impractical to test by manual feeding. The aim of this project is to evaluate and define the appropriate feeding management for growing cobia fed through automatic feeding system able to correct the amount of feed provided in accordance with the variations of physico-chemical parameters of the water. For this, experiment will be conducted in laboratory and field conditions. The laboratory experiments are extremely important, as the results of these experiments will compose the database that will help to define the rates of correction of PLC. The field experiment will be essential to define the best feeding period to growth of cobia and to test the correction rates of PLC, that were defined in the laboratory experiments. The adequate feeding management combined with an automatic supply of feed may contribute to reduction of waste feed, dilute costs and improve the fish performance.
