Abstract

This work consists of the proposal of rational utilization of non-renewable natural resources. It aims to study the technical viability of ground waste glass as concrete aggregate material through the comparison of its effects on mechanical properties of concretes fabricated with the new component, for utilization in structural purposes. Tests will be conducted with replacement of natural fine aggregate (sand), by a ground waste glass of "long neck" bottles, with particle size between 0.15-0.30 mm, observing the behavior of concrete with the following percentages of ground waste glass: 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%. Two samples will be made for each percentage, used in water absorption and porosity tests, and 12 samples for each percentage, for compressive strength tests, in a total of 124 specimens. Furthermore, for control, specimens will be prepared without added glass. The results will assess the quality of concrete produced and its potential in the construction industry. (AU)
