Abstract

The dynamic restore of physical, chemical and biological surface layer of a borrow area, with exposed subsoil, so this will be able to receive and support the Cerrado vegetation, requires the development of specific techniques. One possibility would be introducing of residues that might accelerate this step. As alternatives to be tested is the use of macrophytes (aquatic weeds), removed from hydroelectric dams, and ash produced at sugarcane mills, both wastes generated in the study region. This study proposes the use of two residues (ash from sugar cane and macrophytes) with the aim of forming the new horizon surface in subsoil exposed area, allowing the restoration of the balance between the physical, chemical and biological surface layer, so this will be able to receive and support the Cerrado vegetation. Assessments will take place after 24 months of experiment implantation. The area has extension of 10.66 km2, continuous area, which is located on the left side of the Paraná River, a degraded area that appears in the 60's with the construction of Ilha Solteira Hydroelectric, São Paulo State. The area was fenced (grade average - 0.15 to 0.40 m deep), and the macrophytes and ash were broadcast distributed. The area was barred again for waste incorporation and to break down the clods. After six months, seedlings of Cerrado tree species were introduced randomly, using 4.0 x 5.0 m space, totaling 1080 seedlings. The experimental used a randomized block design in 3 x 4 factorial scheme, with treatments consisting of 3 doses of macrophytes (0, 16 and 32t ha-1) and 4 doses of ash (0, 15, 30 and 45 ha-1), producing a total of 12 treatments, with 03 replicates, established in plots of 20 x 30 m (600 m2), separated by strips of 5 m wide. After 24 months, the following assessments will take place: density, macro and microporosity, fertility, plant height and diameter, carbon microbial biomass, released CO2 carbon, number of spores of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi and mycorrhizal colonization (if possible, without destroying the plants).
