Abstract

The need for structural monitoring in real-time, especially in large structures, represents a new paradigm to be developed and applied more often in civil engineering. Its main objectives are: I) validate and monitor the design parameters and structural integrity, helping in the control and design of future projects, II) detect potential damage and abnormalities in the short/long time within the life cycle of the structure, III) provide data for planning inspections iv) prolong its structural life. The technologies for measurement, data acquisition, and processing for mechanical structural control are already well developed nowadays. So today, the bottleneck of the application of real-time structural monitoring is how to measure, process, and analyze the great amount of signal data that arrives, and how to extract only the relevant information for analysis. To this end, it is had several computing environments, platform Labview is an important system for this process. This is a system that allows easy integration and is compatible with various types of hardware, for inquisitor data with a G (graphical) programming language. It also provides a set of useful libraries for building engineering models. This work presents an initial proposal to develop a computational system in the Labview platform for the simulation of structural monitoring environment in real-time. (AU)
