Abstract

This thesis concerns the relationship between mature speech and architecture of some Latin American Le Corbusier´s collaborators, which worked directly for him in his Parisian atelier, 35 rue de Sèvres. Besides the role of Latin America in the evolution of Corbusian work, and of his reciprocate and evident formal influence in projects from prominent architects (mainly Brazilians from the first half of XX century, diffusers of a Corbusian language in American continent), our aim is the construction of a critical posture from those which shared their daily life with the master, materially and verbally. It is because of that we are not talking about disciples but "sons". As hypotheses, to verify after analysis of their projects, we propose that even their conceptual distance from Le Corbusier, there is a commune heritage of Parisian learning in the projects of those architects, whose works are appreciated by specialized critics and public. We are talking about something expressed in the conception process, an ambition of building not just forms but a universe able to transform the thinking of the inhabitants in its temporal and special environment. This fact derives in the "Master´s contra-influence" idea, as a characteristic of that period whose experiences we attend to reconstruct. For this, we specially will consider architectural projects which had Latin Americans participation. "Re-reading of Corbusian postulates in the own reality" is the expression that is conducting this research.
