Abstract

The research will use 10 lungs of giant anteaters (Myrmecophaga tridactyla), young and adults, both female and male, provided by "Setor de Atendimento Clínico Cirúrgico de Animais Selvagens (SACCAS)" (Wild Animals Clinic and Cirurgic Sector), of the Veterinary Hospital "Dr. Halim Atique", located in São José do Rio Preto, State of São Paulo, wich keeps a partnership with the Environment Police of the State of São Paulo, the Fire Department and IBAMA (Brazilian Institute of the Environment and Natural Resources). The present work has the objective the study of the Anatomy and Segmentation of the lungs of the Myrmecophaga tridactyla, providing a better scientific knowledge and information for a better comprehension about the anatomy to professionals who work with this specie. The material will be frozen and processed for the identification of the structures and the nomenclature will follow the Nomina Anatomica Veterinaria, 5th Edition (2005). (AU)
