Abstract

The debate on climate change requires the continuous generation of information allowing the interpretation of the phenomena responsible by changing on some elements of the weather, especially over the rain. In this way, one of the most important tool that have been used for the understanding of these changes, is the precipitation isotopic composition, by the determination of its environmental isotope content, as well as the evaluation of rainwater physico-chemical composition. Continuous monitoring of these parameters in rainwater collect station installed at CEA - UNESP Rio Claro and incorporated into GNIP network, operated by the International Atomic Energy Agency, aims to contribute to generate important precipitation chemical and isotopic data, contributing for the increase on the amount of data require for understanding the regional climate conditions. The collection of rainwater is made using two gauges attached to five litersgallons, which allow obtaining water samples for the determination of the isotopic composition and physico-chemical rainwater. The main purpose of this project is to study the variability on chemical and isotopic composition of rainwater in this region, generating data which contribute to climate change research, as well as provide the student scholarship complementing the knowledge acquired throughout their undergraduate degree.
