Abstract In this project, we propose to study the Long Baseline Neutrino Experiment (LBNE) using Open Quantum Systems (OQS) approach. This experiment will have a powerful neutrino beam that, initially, will be used in order to impose limits with high precision on some parameters of the current neutrino oscillation paradigm. With OQS, we can explore quantum dissipative effects in this future experiment. Due to its high beam intensity, this experiment will produce a great number of events and hence one expects sensitivity to very rare phenomena occur. New physics beyond the standard model can hence be studied in this accelerator neutrinos sector. In that sense, using the approach applied in main project, we propose to study the most interesting phenomena that OQS approach brings to the neutrino oscillation model, by mean of simulations this future experiment. The predictions obtained with this project can also be thought of as a test of quantum mechanics. We expect that the LBNE collaboration, guided by the results of this research project, will investigate quantum dissipative effects with real experimental data in the future. (AU) | |
