Abstract

SUMOylation is a post-translational modification of proteins characterized by the addition of an ubiquitin-like protein in lysine residues of the substrate. In this study, SUMOylation pathway in Giardia lamblia, a protozoan parasite which colonizes mammals small intestines, will be studied. Cellular biology aspects of the parasite, of its life cycle and its interaction with its host will be analyzed with the participation of SUMO in these processes. (AU)
