Abstract

This project aims to examine the compositional and interpretative style on piano of the multi-instrumentalist Egberto Gismont having as a guide the album "Alma", from 1986. By dealing only with original compositions and having few instruments besides the mentioned, this album is representative of a matured style both as a composer and as a intepreter. It is planned to analyze the 8 works by taking two main aspects: compositional, such as rhythmic, harmonies and motivic development; performatics, such as articulations, dynamics and use the pedals, more specific for the instrument. Besides that, the investigator will also perform recordings of the pieces, thus adding another type of analysis: a practical one.
