Abstract

The restingas are specific ecosystems, with different physiognomies and distributed in mosaic, where rare and endangered species are found. This ecosystem is prevalent along the coast of the state of Rio de Janeiro and is home to a large number of water bodies, such as the Lagoa Comprida, located in Jurubatiba National Park, an environmental reserve of about 14,860 hectares, with 44 km coast and placed in a sandy plain. The project aims to reconstruct the paleoenvironment of Lagoa Comprida, understanding the evolution of the local vegetation, based on the palynological analysis in sediments allied to geomorphological information. A 1.5 m long testimony was collected with part of the sampled material intended for palynological analysis. The techniques used for collecting, sampling and chemical treatment of sediments, identification and counting of palynomorphs and presentation of palynological diagrams follow the methodology proposed by Ybert et al. (1992). Geochronological analyses were made by the method of radiocarbon dating. The expected results are: identify possible changes in vegetation, and consequently environmental changes using Palynology. By these results it is intended to obtain a better understanding of the palaeobiological, paleoecological and geological processes occurred in that area over time. (AU)
