Abstract

The aim of this study is to evaluate the shear bond strength of the resin/dentin interface of permanent teeth after oil contamination. Sixty surfaces of human third molars, embedded in acrylic resin and plasticized will be randomly divided into 4 groups (n=15): I - no contamination (control), II - oil contamination III - oil contamination and air jet (20 s); IV - oil contamination, water jet (20 s) and air blast (20 s). Contamination (0.25 mL during 10s) is performed after the attack phosphoric acid spray with 37% air/oil. Then, all surfaces will apply the adhesive system Prime & Bond resin cylinders and Z250 are made with aid of a Teflon split adapted to a metallic table. The specimens are kept in distilled water at 37°C for 24 hours. Tests will be conducted by a universal testing machine (0.5 mm/min) and fractures will be examined in a stereomicroscope (40X). The data will be analyzed by appropriate statistical test after checking the homogeneity of the samples. (AU)
