Abstract

Quantitative textural studies in magmatic rocks bear the essential potential in the unreaveling of crystallization information, such as nuclealtion and growth rates. The technique has been widely used in the literature in a diversity of geological scenarios. However, it has been only scarcely applied to microgranular enclaves, and exclusively to mafic and intermediate varieties (dacites and basalts). In the present Project, we propose the application of the bases constrained by the Crystal Size Distribution theory in samples from felsic microgranular enclaves associated to granites of the Salton pluton, a occurrence belonging to the Itu Batholith. This occurrence was chosen in the view of large number of fresh outcrops that makes the area particularly suitable to test the methodology proposed in the bigger Project to which this one is subjected (Proc. Fapesp 2011/07074-4).
