Abstract

The unsaturated soils are considered multiphase and multispecies materials that mutually interact and might be found in great thickness deposits where engineering works are built. The stress-strain/flow behavior of unsaturated soils has stimulated the development of models and experiments. This research aims to analyze the characteristics of water retention and hydraulic conductivity of sandy soils based on compacted specimens on several degrees of compaction and moisture content values. This research is part of the Research Project (Proc.: FAPESP 2011/09031-0), where laboratory and field tests are performed under concepts of the Unsaturated Soils Mechanics. (AU)
