Abstract This proposal of research internship abroad aims to identify and evaluate a non-linear programming strategy to solve an optimization problem formed by a set of algebraic and differential equations distributed in space. This research seeks to contribute to a Ph.D. research project "Optimization of a modified spouted bed reactor for ethylene production from methane (Process n° 2011/22800-3)" sponsored by FAPESP, whose purpose is find optimal operating conditions for the oxidative coupling of methane in a modified spouted bed reactor. This work will be developed in cooperation with the Biegler's Research Group at the Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) localized in Pittsburgh, United States, under the supervision of Prof. Lorenz T. Biegler, whose curriculum supports his broad knowledge about simulation and optimization of systems of differential and algebraic equations involved in chemical processes. | |
