Abstract

The main objective of this study is to investigate the influence of the flood pulse on the limnological characteristics of water in a oxbow lake of a floodplain of the Rio Turvo. The proposal is justified by the fact that the data obtained will provide information that will support future conservation projects in flood plains, whose structure and function have strong dependence on the flood pulse. Added to this, there is the fact that the river plain Turvo is located in one of the most devastated regions of the state of São Paulo, with risk of unrecoverable changes even before the ecosystem is known. A minimum of four lagoons will be selected and during the dry and rainy seasons in each pond will be assessed following limnological parameters: depth, temperature, pH, conductivity, DO, chlorophyll-a, suspended matter and nutrients. The set of data will be correlated with the rainy and dry seasons, which enables assessment of the degree of influence of the flood pulse on the limnological characteristics of the lagoons.
