Abstract

Exposure to uncontrollable events has been intensively investigated in the literature on Learned Helplessness. However, some review articles suggest that perhaps the uncontrollability is not the only variable determining the phenomenon. Studies involving predictable and unpredictable stimuli matched the gender of the animals reported different results. This present work is a review of field studies on the subject focusing on learned helplessness females. (AU)
