Abstract

Life habits are common activities or social participation performed by the child in its socio-cultural context according to its characteristics, such as age, sex or socio-cultural level; they are activities to ensure personal survival and well-being in a society by whole life. The achievement quality of life habits is measured on a scale ranging from full participation in social situation of total disability, it is determined by both personal characteristics and the quality of environmental factors that become barriers or facilitators of specific social situations. In this context, different assessment tools were developed by and for clinicians and researchers who are dedicated to assessing the life habits of children, both to follow child development and to verify the effects of rehabilitation. However, in Brazil, few of these tools are available, i.e., few are translated, culturally adapted and validated for assessing the life habits of Brazilian children. The objective of this study is to perform the translation, cultural adaptation and determine normative values for Brazilian children from the Assessment of Life Habits instrument (LIFE-H), aiming to provide clinicians and researchers another tool to assess child life habits and satisfaction of the child or their caregivers, and thus enable future comparative studies with children with functional impairment and disability.
