Abstract

The project aims at investigating the emergence of the notion of mathematical proposition endowed with sense in Wittgenstein's Philosophische Bemerkungen (PhBm). In order to provide a close reading of chapters dedicated to mathematics in this work that belongs to the middle period of the Austrian philosopher, we will make exhaustive use of the manuscripts (105-108) that give rise to PhBm. The research project will focus mainly on chapters XIII and XIX of PhBm. Chapter XIII thematizes the notion of the sense of a mathematical proposition, while the nineteenth chapter explores the negation in mathematics. (AU)
