Abstract

In recent years there has been a growing interest in the sheep for the production meat, especially in the northwestern part of the state of São Paulo. The market has growing rapidly, requiring a greater concern with health aspects. The in order to obtain higher productivity, greater food safety and reduced costs and losses coming from diseases it is essential to recognize such problems, so that we can devise strategies to combat these, beyond establish preventive measures, so that we can reduce economic losses, maximize profits and provide a safe food. Through detailed analysis of questionnaires, direct observation and sampling properties, will be made characterization of the micro herd sheep Araçatuba-SP, which is composed seven municipalities. The animals will be submitted to general clinical examination by anamnesis, inspection and palpation, and made the necessary notes regarding conditions sanitary, reproductive and nutritional status of animals in their their properties. During visits to the properties will be collecting feces from rectum to follow by egg counts per gram of feces of various types and genres of worms as well as the culture of this. Alsowill Venous nodules detected when palpation, which subsequently be tested with polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The results will be submitted to analysis of variance and means are compared by Tukey test with 5% level of significance. (AU)
