Abstract

In this project, we intend to study how optical beams carrying orbital angular momentum (vortex beams) behave under frustrated total internal reflection. We will investigate what happens to the orbital angular momentum associated with the vortex beam, by measuring its topological charge, after it tunnels through a prism-air-prism barrier. We will also try to observe the spin Hall effect of vortex beams transmitted in frustrated total internal reflection, studying the effect of its topological charge in the magnitude of the effect.
