Abstract

Among the three components of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF), the participation was touted as the most complex to be characterized. Initially, it was suggested the use of questionnaires to assess quality of life, highlighting the use of the Stroke Specific Quality of Life (SS-QOL). However, most of the SS-QOL items assess other ICF categories. Therefore, it is necessary to accurately assess only the SS-QOL items that assess participation, thus requiring validation and analysis of the psychometric properties of these items. The objective of this study is to validate SS-QOL to evaluate the participation component of the ICF. Therefore, we will analyze the internal consistency of the SS-QOL items that assess participation, using the alpha (±) Cronbach. For validation of concurrent criterion, we will use the Kappa test. The construct validation will be divided into three stages: the first evaluates the comparison group known for such will be considered the following groups: acute stroke (<6 months) and chronic (e 6 months), using the Mann-Whitney . The second step comes from the analysis of the correlation score of the SS-QOL items that assess participation, with the score of the fields of instruments that assess similar concepts to those items of SS-QOL (SF-36 and MIF), and test the handgrip, this analysis will be done by the Spearman correlation coefficient (r). The last step will examine the discriminant function by means of multiple linear regression. The reliability analysis of the SS-QOL items that assess participation will be analyzed by the Kappa test.
