Abstract

Introduction: Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) is a therapeutic recommendation for moderate and severe Syndrome Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA), the Mandibular Advancement Device (MAD) is recommended for mild OSA. However few studies have assessed the metabolic changes in mild OSA and the effect of these treatments in these changes justify the need for such research. Objective: To evaluate and compare the effect of treatment with CPAP and MAD on the metabolic profile in patients with mild OSA. Methods: This will include patients of both sexes; with BMI lower than 35 kg / m2; age between 30 and 65 years ago; mild OSA of diagnostic (with AHI between 5 to 15 / h). 66 patients will then be randomized into 3 groups: group 1 with CPAP (n = 22), group 2 with MAD (n = 22) and group 3: control group (receiving only sleep hygiene guidelines (n = 22). Group 4 will consist of normal subjects (n = 30). The first group volunteers will undergo a second PSG for CPAP titration pressure, and treatment groups will be supervised and instructed in the use of appliances and medicine . All groups will be submitted at baseline, 6 months and 01 years: clinical, metabolic profile (cholesterol, fasting blood glucose, glycated hemoglobin, insulin, HOMA, triglycerides, uric acid, plasma cortisol), evaluation of salivary cortisol and inflammatory profile:. cysteine, leptin and adiponectin, TNF-alpha, IL-6, IL-10 Statistical analysis will use the General Linear Model (GLM) for repeated measures and univariate analysis.
