Abstract

The goal of this project is the development of context adaptable alternative strategies for the visualization of data networks, which enables sensitive analysis of complex networks (a field in which the candidate has previous experience), once it has been shown that they can be useful in many applications of interest for this project. In this case, the user perspective should be considered by analyzing what is necessary for biological networks applications, considering the development of multi-scale visualization techniques. Network partitioning techniques will also be investigated (such as community detection), as an important stage of the multi-scale visualization approach. In addition, edge bundling methods will be applied with the objective of minimizing visual noise. This project has the potential of improving methods of strategic data analysis, such as biological data used in disease studies and in the synthesis of new medicine.
