Abstract

In the literature many researchers dedicated studying the importance and implications of aspects variability genetic in insects populations used in biological control programs. However, few studies assess the influence of this factor on the field performance of the insects used in biological control programs. The knowledge of the implications of genetic variability in populations of natural enemies, especially parasitoids, there is great importance for optimization of biological control programs. Thus, this proposal, which is a partnership between the University of São Paulo and the University of California-Riverside/EUA, aims to determine the influence of the mitochondrial region, strain and time of maintenance in the laboratory, on field performance of Trichogramma pretiosum Riley 1879.
