Abstract

This research seeks to study urban areas of public importance and its intrinsic spatial relations partner, in order to envision urban imaginary able to inform architecture and urbanism projects under the " radical challenge experimentation" for mid-sized cities in São Paulo State, specifically, São José do Rio Preto-SP. Accordingly, we require the study of the context of the central area and contiguity with the iron bed of São José do Rio Preto-SP - the vicinity of the old Railway Station - in search of situations and types townspeople able to trigger the impasses, dilemmas and entanglements present in the urban space in the search for qualities that can be exploited in the experimental architectural projects presented as sketches.
